AFFINA wears red in support of Tsunami Relief

January 19, 2005 - Peoria, Illinois

AFFINA announced today that its employees and the company have raised more than $10,000 in donations in one day for the American Red Cross’ efforts to provide aid relief in Asia after the December, 2004 tsunamis. The donations were raised through employee support and a corporate match by the Company.

“On January 12, we held an ‘AFFINA Wears Red’ day, and our employees responded by wearing red in support of the American Red Cross,” said Human Resources Director Wendy Basham. “That Wednesday, we raised more than $10,000 through employee donations and a company match.” The company-wide fundraiser is one of many in which AFFINA employees participate. Throughout the year, AFFINA’s more than 1,200 North American employees support multiple charitable organizations and each other.

“It’s not unusual for us to have fundraisers every month or so for a community organization, charitable effort, or for an employee that just needs some help,” Basham said. “We’re truly a family here, and our employees are always ready to support one other and the causes that they believe in strongly. After the tsunamis in December, they were ready to help.” According to Basham, employees are survey annually to gauge which organizations to support for the following year. The company and its employees support the American Red Cross through fundraisers and blood drives several times each year.
